SEO Strategy Decisions
How The Ranking Store approaches SEO Strategy Decisions
Where We Start
At The Ranking Store, we begin with the whole picture rather than a single tactic. Businesses often invest in design, ads, SEO, social media and listings without seeing how the pieces look together, and that is the first thing we look at: what already exists, and how the parts sit alongside each other. Taking that baseline before anything else means later spending is a decision rather than a guess.
What We Work Through, In Order
From there we move through the assets a business actually owns — its Google Business Profile, its site properties, its backlinks, its calendar activity, its content, its leads. We build software for those pieces, including GMB Mega Poster and GMB POI Factory for Google Business Profile work, Google Sites Factory for site properties, Backlink Factory for links, Calendar Stacker Factory for calendar stacking, and AI Factory and Leads Factory around them, because a decision about one piece only makes sense when the others are visible.
Content comes next, since most strategy questions land there. We treat structure as part of the strategy rather than decoration: a well-structured blog post enhances readability and keeps readers engaged, so headings, sections and flow get decided on purpose. Then we look at what already ranks for the subject, and at what is missing.
Where Tools Earn Their Place
Content optimization tools pull related search queries with monthly volume, competition scores and CPC data, and competitor URLs can be analyzed to see which keywords they rank for, which helps identify content gaps in a strategy (OneLittleWeb, “10 Best SEO Content Optimization Tools in 2026”, https://onelittleweb.com/top-tools/best-seo-content-optimization-tools/). Extracting headings from the articles that already rank is the tedious half of that work, so we let software collect and keep the judgement in-house. Because marketers use many types of software for specific aspects of SEO, we match the tool to the decision instead of expecting one product to carry it (Zapier, “The 11 Best SEO Tools in 2026”, https://zapier.com/blog/best-seo-tools/).
Why We Do It This Way
The order protects the decision. Change the content, the listings and the links all at once and nothing can be judged afterwards; take a baseline, pick the piece that needs the work, then judge it against that baseline, and the next move is clearer. It also keeps the work repeatable, which is why the same sequence runs through our software and our courses — the method stays the same, so the decisions get easier to make.
